Grape

Grape is a juicy, playful fruity note in perfumery, celebrated for its sweet, tangy, and slightly floral aroma that evokes freshly crushed grapes or sparkling grape juice. Its scent balances succulent sweetness with a crisp, green undertone, often reminiscent of violet leaf, berries, and candy-like esters. Depending on its construction, the Grape accord can range from fresh and effervescent (white grape or Concord-style) to deep and syrupy (red or muscat grape). Used mainly as a top or heart note, it lends brightness, energy, and a touch of fun to fruity, floral, or gourmand compositions.

History & Production: Since natural grape essence cannot be extracted, the Grape accord is entirely synthetic, built from molecules such as methyl anthranilate (with its juicy Concord grape facet), isoamyl acetate, and various fruity aldehydes and esters. Its vivid aroma became popular in the 20th century for both perfumery and flavoring, later evolving into a refined note in niche fragrances. When paired with rose, blackcurrant, violet, or musks, Grape introduces a radiant, youthful sparkle—a burst of sweetness that feels at once nostalgic and modern, recalling sunlit vineyards and candied joy.
